How can Victorian services provide better care for family violence victim-survivors?
We designed a toolkit for Family Safety Victoria (FSV) to help services dealing with family violence assess and improve their progress towards state-wide family-violence response obligations.
The Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Framework ensures services are effectively identifying family violence risk.
However, the framework is complex and lengthy. Organisations felt overwhelmed and were unsure how to progress towards MARAM alignment. We set out to co-design a toolkit with the people who will be using them, to help break through that complexity.
The Challenge
Methodology
We delivered a co-designed MARAM Maturity Toolkit. This included three products: The Maturity Model, the six-poster Roadmap and the interactive Self-Assessment Spreadsheet.
The Maturity Model is a top-level summary of the MARAM maturity levels and their characteristics, presented in simple language.
The Toolkit
A set of six Roadmap Posters outline the journey to improving MARAM alignment. These posters include details on implementation steps.
The interactive Self-Assessment spreadsheet is the tool with the most detail. It enables users to assess their organisations across multiple internal services and operations. It generates a bespoke action plan based on the user’s submitted information.
The Report
Alongside the Toolkit, we developed a comprehensive Insights Report for FSV, outlining key user needs and a set of User Personas.
Impact
The multi-tiered Maram Maturity toolkit was an impactful solution because it recognised that different organisations had very different levels of obligation towards MARAM - and that people within those organisations had different levels of obligation, too.
This toolkit is also an excellent model for other complex compliance and regulation spaces.
“Your expertise in human-centered design and your commitment to understanding MARAM and addressing our particular needs has shone through. Collaboration, creativity and dedication by the Paper Giant team has been outstanding.”
